Limitations of Classical Yogas in Astrology
Classical literature brings out some yogas arising out of the conjunction, aspect or placement of certain planets. For example panch mahapurush yogas, budha aditya yoga, gaj-kesari yoga, etc. etc.
These classical yogas fructify when they satisfy the following conditions:
1. When the participating planets are strong;
2. When the participating planets are functional benefic planets for the person;
3. When the conjunction, aspect or placement is within an orb of five degrees;
4. When the placment of the planets participating in a yoga are placed in good house(s).
Gaj Kesari yoga is said to be formed by the angular placement of Jupiter and the Moon. This yoga does not give results to the persons born in the ascending signs of Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius.
Budha Aditya yoga is said to be formed by the close conjunction of Mercury and the Sun. This yoga does not give results to the persons born in the ascending signs of Aries, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
Hamsa Yoga is said to be formed by own sign or exaltation position of Jupiter in an angular house. Hamsa Yoga does not give benefic results for those born in Capricorn and Cancer ascendants.
Ruchak Yoga is said to be formed by the own sign or exaltation position of Mars in an angular house. Ruchak yoga does not give benefic results for those born in Taurus and Scorpio ascendants.
Malavaya Yoga is said to be formed by the own sign or exaltation position of Venus in an angular house. Malavaya yoga does not give benefic results for those born in Taurus and Pisces ascendants.
The participation of the functional malefic planets in a yoga may not allow the benefic results of the yoga to fructify.
